Alona Dubovska

Teaching Assistant

Hello! My name is Alona, and I’m a Teaching Assistant here at Castlebridge School.

I moved to Tavistock from Ukraine in 2022 with my daughter, and since then I’ve been working with young people who find learning a bit more challenging. Over the past two years, I’ve supported students with autism and social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their goals. I also enjoy planning lessons around wellbeing and relationships, and finding creative ways to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

I’m truly passionate about helping each child learn in a way that works best for them. I believe every child has their own story, strengths, and style of learning — and I love building positive, trusting relationships to help them thrive.

Before coming to the UK, I ran my own business for many years, which helped me develop strong organisation and communication skills — something I now use every day in school.

I’m proud to be part of such a caring and energetic team that always puts students first. I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and supporting both the children and my colleagues.

Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, painting, and spending time near the water. I also really enjoy learning from the fantastic team around me — we all bring different experiences, and it’s inspiring to share and grow together.
