Overview

Castlebridge School caters for pupils from Year 3 to Year 11, primarily supporting those with autism who have faced challenges in mainstream education and may have developed strategies of school/ learning avoidance to help themselves feel safe. In many cases, this will have impacted on their educational progress and self-esteem and, for other pupils, this will have manifested into behaviour that is challenging to others.  All of our pupils will already have got an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place.

Their range of needs may also be multi-layered and interconnected, combining communication difficulties, anxiety, attachment, relationships, behavioural, physical, medical, sensory and communication features. Castlebridge School's curriculum is a tailored, personalised learning approach that will ensure pupils effectively access and engage with, and ultimately achieve meaningful skills and academic accreditation.

Key objectives:

  • Specialist Support – Provide tailored support to help pupils access learning and develop communication, interaction and resilience skills.
  • Collaborative Approach – Work with pupils, parents, schools and agencies to identify and meet individual development needs.
  • High-Quality Education – Ensure good progress and academic accreditation through effective teaching and learning.
  • Assessment – Implement comprehensive assessment strategies to track and support pupil progress.
  • Transition Process - Develop effective transition processes with thorough information sharing.

The curriculum is designed to provide accessible academic opportunities, underpinned by PSHE and communication strategics. It celebrates neurodiversity and uses evidence-based practices like SCERTS, Sensory Integration and Team Teach to support learning and social development.

Castlebridge School aims to equip pupils with the skills and confidence to progress through school and into adulthood, celebrating their unique strengths and aspirations.
