World Book Day brings Storybook Magic

Castlebridge School brings stories to Life with costumes,  creativity and a trip to the bookstore.

World Book Day was celebrated in specular style this year as pupils and staff stepped into the pages of their favourite stories, arriving at school as beloved book characters. From Gangsta-Granny to Mary Poppins, the school buzzed with colour, imagination and excitement.

A highlight of the celebration was a special Mad Hatter's themed lunch, inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The dining hall was decorated with teapots, oversized playing cards and colourful "Eat Me" and "Drink Me" labels. In the days leading up to the event, pupils worked in art class to create their own decorative hats - each one unique, colourful, and wonderfully whimsical. They wore these proudly as they sat down to a magical lunch surrounded by themed decorations and playful signs.

Adding even more excitement, the school visited their local bookstore, where pupils used their World Book Day tokens to choose a free book from the official collection. The trip gave children the opportunity to browse shelves, explore new titles and select a book to keep and take home - helping to spark reading enthusiasm long after the celebrations end.

Throughout the day, classrooms were filled with reading activities, storytelling and creative tasks designed to immerse pupils in the joy of books. The combination of costumes, crafts, special lunch and a real-world-world experience made this one of the most memorable days at the school yet.

The celebration brought the whole school community together in a shared love of stories, imagination, and the magic of reading - reminding everyone just how powerful a book can be.
